FAQ
What food tours do you offer in Israel?
I offer private food tours in Mahane Yehuda Market (Jerusalem) and Levinsky Market (Tel Aviv) — two of Israel’s most iconic markets. Each tour explores local food, immigrant culture, and hidden culinary gems you won’t find on your own.
How long is each food tour?
Each tour runs 2 to 2.5 hours. We walk, eat, sit, eat, talk, and eat again. The pace is relaxed and personalized — you set the tone.
How much does a private food tour cost?
$400 for up to four adults
$60 for each additional adult
Children 6 and under are free
Price includes all food, drinks, and storytelling. No hidden fees – just hidden eateries.
Are your food tours kosher?
Yes. Every stop on both the Jerusalem market tour and the Tel Aviv market tour is certified kosher (Rabbanut, Mehadrin, or Tzohar). I adapt each itinerary to your level of observance.
Do you accommodate food allergies, vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diets?
Absolutely. I regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, and other dietary needs. Just let me know in advance so I can plan the route accordingly. No one should suffer through boring food.
What kind of food will we eat on the tour?
Expect a full meal — not just bites. Sample foods may include:
Mahane Yehuda Market: Kubbeh soup, sambusak, arayes, khachapuri, kanafeh, mofletta.
Levinsky Market: Cheese-stuffed apricots, Turkish bourekas, Persian pickles, elite halvah, house-roasted coffees.
Menus vary based on the season, your preferences, and the vibe of the day.
When are tours available?
Tours are offered Sunday through Thursday, at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
I don’t run tours on Fridays or Saturdays, as most markets are closed for Shabbat.
How do I book a food tour?
Click the “Book Now” button on my website or contact me directly on WhatsApp: +972-54-795-6759. I usually reply fast — unless I’m in the middle of a hummus situation.
Are your food tours private or group-based?
All my tours are 100% private. It’s just you, your people, and me — no strangers, no shared groups, and no awkward name tags.
Is the food tour kid-friendly?
Yes! I’ve guided everyone from toddlers to teens. I adjust the stops and pacing for families. (Note: Mahane Yehuda can be busier – good to know for strollers.)
Is the tour accessible for people with mobility issues?
Both Levinsky Market and Mahane Yehuda Market are mostly flat. Levinsky is fully walkable and recently made pedestrian-only. Mahane Yehuda can get crowded or uneven in parts, but I’ll plan the route with your needs in mind.
What happens if it rains?
We keep eating. Many stops are covered or indoors. Bring a raincoat – the food will still be hot!
Do you offer corporate tours, culinary delegations, or custom experiences?
Yes. I’ve guided chefs, journalists, diplomats, tech execs, and everyone in between. I can tailor the food tour experience to fit your group’s interests and schedule.
Will I leave full?
Yes. This is not a tasting. It’s a real-deal Israeli food tour with enough food to skip your next meal. Wear pants with some give.
What if I want to try something off the beaten path?
I love that. (Mahane Yehuda) even has a spleen guy — but I’ve yet to meet the tourist brave enough to say yes. Could be you?
Will there be coffee and dessert?
Always. I’m a trained pastry chef. We finish strong.
Can I take photos on the tour?
Please do — and don’t forget to tag me: @harrysbaked
What makes your food tours in Israel different?
I don’t follow a script or stick to Instagram-famous stops. I’m a pastry chef, food historian, and lifelong market explorer. My tours blend flavor with culture and story. Every tour is unique, personal, and delicious.
Who is this Harry guy anyway?
I’m Harry Rubenstein – your guide, storyteller, snack curator, and occasional pusher of spleen. I’m a trained pastry chef, an amateur food historian, and a lifelong eater. I’ve spent years exploring Israel’s markets and researching Jewish food traditions. My tours blend deep food knowledge with a relaxed, friendly vibe. No scripts. No megaphones. Just good stories and great bites.
