Food Guide, Pastry Chef & Jewish Food Expert
Harry Rubenstein is a food guide, pastry chef, and Jewish food expert based in Israel. A graduate of Bishulim Culinary Institute, he has spent over 20 years exploring Israel's markets and building relationships with the vendors and families behind the food.
Since 2017, Harry has led private food tours through Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem and Levinsky Market in Tel Aviv, connecting guests with the immigration stories, culinary traditions, and communities that shaped Israeli cuisine. He personally guides every tour, with two and a half hours of tasting and storytelling with someone who knows every vendor by name.
Harry's writing on Jewish and Israeli food history has been published in The Nosher, the largest Jewish food publication online. He also writes a Substack newsletter exploring the history behind the dishes, pastries, and food traditions of the Jewish diaspora, with over 1,000 subscribers.
When he's not in the shuk, Harry collects vintage Jewish cookbooks, develops recipes, and researches the migration stories that brought the food of a dozen different communities to the same narrow market alley.
Taste the real Israel through Mahane Yehuda in Jerusalem or Levinsky Market in Tel Aviv. Private tours, all food and drink included.
